Constitutional Hydrotherapy

FAQs

  • Constitutional Hydrotherapy utilizes a simple technique of applying alternating hot and cold towels to the chest and back with the addition of sine wave. This simple, centuries old practice is commonly utilized by Naturopaths to stimulate and improve cellular function to remove waste, increase nutrient uptake, and ultimately improve overall function.

  • By improving cellular function the body is better able to improve immune function, rid itself of harmful toxins, and even regulate body temperature, blood sugar, and blood pressure. Stimulation of the digestive tract can help alleviate constipation, gastroparesis, and other concerns.

  • In one of two side by side but private bays, patients are left alone to disrobe from the top up and lay down face up on the massage table using a dry towel to cover the chest. The practitioner returns and alternating hot and cold towels are placed on the bare chest and back, with draping used to maintain modesty. Halfway through the treatment you will turn over to lay on your chest so the towels can be applied to your back. E-stim pads are placed over the back and the abdomen to to stimulate digestive function. The e-stim feels like a tingling sensation and is set to each person’s comfort. At the end of the hour long treatment most people report a deeper state of relaxation.

  • For the best results, a series of 10 sessions is often the starting point for chronic conditions. Acute concerns, such as persistent colds, often benefit from 1-3 treatments. Frequency varies from 1-2x/week with home hydrotherapy occasionally being recommended in between.

  • For many insurance plans each session would simply be subject to a copay. For self-pay patients, the cost is $75 per visit. Packages of 5 or 10 are available. This service can also be charged to FSA and HSA accounts.
